This song is basically why I gave the Decemberists a shot despite their despicable trucker-hatted fanbase. I’m glad I did.

You’re still hipster scum, though. <3

Jewben, you’ve seen me in person. I’m so not a hipster. I’m not even a little bit hip.

I have two tickets - the other one is Hillary’s, and if they play this song I will laugh. With evil glee.

You work in the book industry and wear glasses. Sorry, those are enough qualifications to Hipsterdom in my book! (Yes, my universe is filled with dirty hipsters)

…any album you’d recommend to get started on these guys?

You can’t go wrong with their newest album, The Crane Wife. “The Crane Wife 3″ will break your heart.

Also, Picaresque which has the aforementioned “Mariner’s Revenge Song,” plus “We Both Go Down Together,” “Eli, the Barrow Boy” and “Engine Driver.” (I am not at all biased by the fact I’m learning to play Engine Driver. Nope.)

There was no update because the concert is still in the future. It’s November 6th.
